The Statement paper size is a reduced format with identical dimensions to Half Letter, measuring 5.5 inches wide by 8.5 inches tall, giving it a 1.55:1 width-to-height aspect ratio and surface area of approximately 47 square inches. Statement is used for notebooks, pads, invoices, forms, and other applications where a compact version of standard Letter size is needed. It allows Letter documents to be formatted smaller or for Letter sheets to be trimmed or folded down to Statement size for binding purposes. Statement can fit better in backpacks, binders, and some hanging folders. It is also known as Memo or Half Letter. Statement does not have a direct ANSI or Architectural size equivalent but its area is about half that of Letter or ANSI A size sheets.
