The ANSI B paper size, also known as Ledger or Tabloid, is 11 inches wide by 17 inches tall, giving it a surface area of 187 square inches. This makes ANSI B the next larger standard size after ANSI A. Its dimensions stem from traditional printing practices for large documents like newspapers, which needed a bigger sheet than letter size. The long grain of ANSI B runs parallel to the 17 inch side, the same orientation as ANSI A. While not as ubiquitous as Letter size, Tabloid dimensions are still commonly used for documents, posters, and forms requiring more space. ANSI B has an aspect ratio of 11:17, making it more elongated than both ANSI A and ISO A3. It is one of the few major paper sizes still widely used that is based on imperial measurements rather than the metric system. ANSI B's large area makes it useful for high resolution art prints and engineering drawings.
