The ANSI D paper size is 22 inches wide by 34 inches tall, giving it a very large surface area of 748 square inches. As the fourth size up in the ANSI system, ANSI D starts to offer dimensions more associated with poster printing and oversized technical documents than everyday use. The long grain runs parallel to the 34 inch height. Its 11:17 aspect ratio means ANSI D is exactly twice as wide and tall as Ledger size while maintaining the same proportions. This scaling allows CAD drawings and project layouts to print at double size without distortion. While not common in most offices, ANSI D can be useful for very large spreadsheets, charts, and graphics needing to print beyond Ledger. Technical drawings, blueprints, and construction plans also sometimes utilize this size when the level of detail requires it. ANSI D scales up directly from Ledger the same way ANSI C scales from ANSI A.
