With diminutive dimensions of 70mm x 105mm, the PA7 format has a total surface area of just 0.0074 square meters. Belonging to the transitional PA paper size series originally conceived in 1975, PA7 directly bridges the gap between the small PA6 and A7 sizes. PA7 shares the same height as A7 but gains a little extra horizontal space with its marginally wider width. The PA7 size does not have any common alternative names. Applications take advantage of its compact area for uses like business cards, tiny leaflets, and postage stamps where the additional width compared to A7 provides some extra room for content. As part of the supplemental PA series, PA7 was developed to add grades between existing ISO 216 formats, so its origins lack extensive history apart from filling an A7 transitional role. Though rejected alongside all PA sizes for standardization, PA7 continues occupying an important niche between PA6 and A7 for microscopic documents requiring a modicum more width than A7. The PA7’s diminutive dimensions severely limit its utility, but it fulfills its purpose of squeezing in an extra slight jump in width before reaching the smallest A7 size.
