3.4 x 2.1 inch

The ID-1 format specifies a card size of 85.60 x 53.98 mm, which converts to approximately 3.372 x 2.125 inches. With an area of 4,637 mm2, the ID-1 is the most common standard card size defined in ISO/IEC 7810. It is widely referred to as CR-80, based on its original imperial dimensions of 3 3/8 x 2 1/8 inches. ID-1 emerged as the ubiquitous size for payment cards, including credit cards, debit cards, and ATM cards. Its adoption expanded to also include identification cards like driver's licenses, national ID cards, health cards, and employee badges. The origins of ID-1 date back to the 1960s when IBM pioneered the 85.72 x 53.98 mm card size for early magstripe payment cards. ISO later standardized this format as ID-1, and it gained global adoption for its ideal dimensions - large enough for clear printing and embossing while small enough for wallet convenience. Today, ID-1 remains the dominant format for card-based payments, IDs, and credentials worldwide.
