The Eastern European business card size has dimensions of 90 mm x 55 mm, which is approximately 3.54 inches x 2.17 inches. With a surface area of 49.5 sq cm or 7.67 sq inches, it is slightly wider and longer than the North American and Western European sizes. This size can fit inside a C6 envelope or sleeve like the Western European size.
The 90 mm x 55 mm size originated as the GOST 7.19-77 paper standard instituted in Eastern Bloc countries in the late 1970s. This metric system unified paper sizes for the region based on doubling area. The 90 x 55 mm dimension falls between the GOST's A8 (74x52 mm) and A7 (74x105 mm) sizes. It was selected as an optimized business card size - larger than ISO A8 to allow more information, but still easily carried. Today the 90 x 55 mm card remains a standard in Eastern Europe, much of Asia, parts of Africa, and some South American regions. It is sometimes referred to as the Eastern European, Chinese, or Asian business card size.
