The A5 is the largest card in the international standard ISO 216 paper sizes used globally outside the US. With dimensions approximately 5.83 inches wide by 8.27 inches high, the A5 provides a generous surface area of 48 square inches. This makes it similar to the 5x7 inch index card popular in America. As with other A-sizes, the A5 was originally defined in metric units (148x210 mm). The significantly expanded space compared to smaller A6 and A7 cards enables lengthy notes, detailed formulas and diagrams, and other applications where writing real estate is essential. As part of the modular A-series, the A5 offers scalable sizing for efficient international printing and design work. This versatile larger card has been widely adopted for journals, multi-page notes, artwork, and more. When portability is not as important as sheer writing and visual space, the A5 index card delivers.
